How Random Visit Earned Sabina Chege Acting Gig at KBC

Date:

Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Wanjiru Chege got her acting gig at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) after visiting the studios wanting to meet her favorite actors.

After finishing form four, she came to Nairobi. She capitalized on that opportunity to tour KBC determined to meet Tausi Show characters.

Coincidentally, one character was not present and she was picked to replace her after she demonstrated her acting prowess.

“One day, I watched the Tausi show on KBC because I was very interested. Back in high school, I joined drama. So one day, I walked to KBC and said I wanted to see ‘Tausi’ people. I said I was acting in school and I was interested,” she told TV47.

“I was picked and I replaced a character called Rehema. So I acted before I joined the university,” she added.

The show helped Sabina gain fame and build her acting portfolio. It was a stepping stone into her future setting her up to join the media landscape.

Before joining active politics, Sabina was a renowned radio host and was also a vixen in several music videos.

But Sabina’s journey was not easy, she was once compelled to drive a matatu to raise her upkeep funds.

“When I was pregnant I would drive matatu, napiga squad Dagoretti. (I used to do a few matatu rounds in Dagoretti),” the politician stated.

“By the way, I got married before I joined university. On that Monday I was supposed to join university, I gave birth on Sunday,” Sabina added.
