Phyllis Jepleting was sadly strangled to death.
Jepleting, a first-year scholar at Karatina University studying math and biology, was found dead on January 1 at the house of her lover, Ezra Kipkemoi, in Naka Estate, Nakuru County.
An autopsy has shown that Phyllis Jepleting, whose deteriorated body was discovered in her boyfriend’s home in Naka Estate, Nakuru City, ended up dead by strangulation.
According to the governmental pathologist Titus Ngulungu’s autopsy, Jepleting, 19, died due to asphyxiation brought on by physical neck manipulation.
“As a result of my examination, I formed the opinion that the cause of death was asphyxiation, caused by manual neck compression,” stated Dr Ngulungu.
In order to determine whether she was molested before she passed away, vaginal swabs were also collected for further examination. The practice was carried out in front of the police and the deceased’s family.
The Karatina University student visited her lover in Nakuru on December 19, after the university had closed for the holidays, according to a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
“After they closed for the December holidays, Jepleting’s parents sent her Sh2,600 and told her not to travel home. However, she decided to travel to Nakuru to spend the holiday with her boyfriend,” her relative revealed on Monday.
“We have established that she travelled with her colleague but alighted in Nakuru City, saying she wanted to visit a relative. That is the last time her friend saw her,” the relative adds
Since then, it has come to light that she frequently spent time at her boyfriend’s home before returning home after school.
