How Francis Mureithi, Ruto  Are Involved In The Murder Of IEBC Official Daniel Musyoka- Babu Owino

Date:

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has denied being involved in the murder of IEBC official Daniel Musyoka, days after his body was found dumped in a forest in Loitotok.

In response to his opponent Francis Mureithi, Owino said that he would not have killed the returning officer who was going to announce him as the elected MP of Embakasi East Constituency after garnering 57,710 votes against Murethi’s 29, 110.

“If I had the intention of killing that person, why didn’t I do it before. Why would I do it when I had already seen that I had won even a lunatic can not do such a thing. People should stop accusing me of that,” angry Babu Owino said during a press briefing.

According to him there are a number of reasons why the one who lost elections would kill the returning officer.

“But why would the loser want to kill the returning officer, 1; if the returning officer ate his money and failed to deliver, 2;if he wanted to petition this election having known that he had lost if he petitions and accuses the winner of the same. So the question is simple: who would benefit from the death of the returning officer, the one who has won or the one who has lost?” he posed.

Owino called upon DCI to arrest Mureithi as the first suspect in the murder of Musyoka and further said that he would sue him of defamation. He also linked the elected president William Ruto to the murder.

“In the news yesterday(Tuesday), some of the family members said that this person might have been killed just the day when the presidential elections results were declared. The person who was declared was Ruto, this opponent comes from UDA. This thing you just add one plus one you get two,” Owino said.

Earlier on Wednesday, in a statement, Mureithi linked Owino to the murder of Musyoka, citing events that occurred at the tallying center on the day Musyoka disappeared from.

An autopsy  conducted on Musyoka’s body on Wednesday revealed that he died by strangulation. Musyoka disappeared on August 11 and his body was discovered on Monday August 15 at the forest by herders.
