How Botched Exorcism Earned Ex-Kenyan Presidential Candidate 11 Years in Prison

Date:

Brisbane Supreme Court in Australia on Friday, September 29 sealed the fate of a former Kenyan presidential candidate Quincy Zuma Wambitta Timberlake by slapping him with 11 -years in prison.

The court found Quincy guilty of killing his three-year-old son north of Brisbane in 2014, thinking he was possessed by aliens

Quincy had previously been charged with the murder of his son Sinclair, but the prosecution accepted a guilty plea on the lesser charge of manslaughter in Brisbane’s Supreme Court earlier this month.

However, having been in custody for more than nine years since the incident occurred, Timberlake is set to be paroled with a supervision order in place.

Botched Exorcism

Supreme Court Justice Paul Freeburn stated that late on the night Sinclair died, Timberlake and his wife Esther Timberlake, a former Kenyan television personality, heard a thud at their Kallangur home and left their bedroom to find the child at the bottom of the stairs.

Justice Paul heard that Timberlake said that the devil was in their house and grabbed a Bible. At that his wife was in the shower room.

Arunga then heard thuds from the other bathroom and was forced to bash the door in, where she saw Timberlake forcefully strike Sinclair in the stomach.

What Quincy Said

According to Crown Prosecutor Clayton Wallis had given contradicting information regarding his actions.

“He told his wife he had slapped the devil out of [his] son and told police he was trying to get xenomorphic eggs from the stomach of his son,” Wallis told the court.

The court heard a report from a pathologist had found the toddler sustained severe blunt force trauma to his stomach, consistent with punches and died of internal injuries.

Justice Freeburn stated that Timberlake applied CPR to his son’s stomach, which may have exacerbated his injuries.

Wallis further informed the court that Quincy had told emergency responders who arrived at their home that his son had fallen down the staircase. He later stated that he might have stepped on his back after the supposed fall.

“It’s difficult to know precisely what happened because both the defendant and his wife immediately began a concerted course of action to obscure the truth from police and paramedics,” Wallis told the court.

The 43-year-old told police he had previously “performed witchcraft” on Sinclair and didn’t know how he died but knew he was responsible because of the voices he was hearing at the time.

“Rather than provide the care and protection of a parent, you killed your child in the most brutal way,” Justice Freeburn said.

He once unsuccessfully ran for a Kenyan presidential seat after he established his own political party called PlaCenta with his wife and the founder of Kenya’s Finger of God church, Joseph Hellon.
