The Kyallo sisters, Betty, Mercy and Gloria, recently launched their own reality show, where they would be sharing a part of their life that most people don’t get to see.
The 13-part reality series is titled the Kyallo Kulture and will be airing on Showmax.
In one of the episodes, Mercy reveals that she almost lost her life while donating an egg for a childless couple so that they would be able to have a child through an IVF procedure. This is the first time that she was opening up about that.
In an interview with NTV, Mercy said that she developed a complication that affected her greatly but gladly, her family stood with her.
“I never ever shared this story publicly through social media or anything but I thought this show would be a great opportunity to bring light to that. I was donating eggs and I think a lot of women donate eggs every now and then sometimes it is for passion, sometimes it is for the money.
“And I almost lost my life. I got a complication called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome which had me battling for my life for almost a month in hospital. I forgot how to walk, it was crazy but my family was really there for me,” she recounted.
Mercy however did not just wake up and go for the procedure. She first consulted her elder sister Betty, who encouraged her to do it because it is a lucrative opportunity.
“Do you know I told this chick about that thing, I was like ‘Betty you know what I am really thinking about this donation thing, there are families out there who are suffering without kids.’ She was like, go, my friend has bought a whole stereo system living her life through that thing,” Mercy said.
She however admitted that they both did not have information about what the whole thing was all about.
At the time, Mercy was just 18 years old. She was affected because her body was not receptive to the drugs that were administered to her and does not blame doctors for what happened.
