Detectives from Homabay county’s Rachuonyo North sub county have arrested a 40 year old man after he beat his teenage daughter and killed her.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the man violently landed on the young girl with blows after she came back home late in the night of Christmas Day.
Jane Opiyo who is now a past tense was a form for student at Sinyolo girls secondary school in the county of Kisumu.
The sad news was confirmed by the Kobala sub location assistant chief Mr. George Oburu who revealed that this young girl left home on Saturday in a bid to celebrate Christmas Eve with her friends.
“I was informed that the girl left home without the permission of her parents who didn’t know her whereabouts.” said the administrator.
Apparently, the angry father waited for her daughter until late in the night and on arrival, he sought answers with regards to where she was. Full of fury, the Homabay man decided to crush the daughter with a blunt object.
So serious were the beatings that the victim became unconscious, forcing those present to rush her to the nearest health facility before she was pronounced dead on arrival.
This sad revelation was narrated by the wife of the suspected killer.
On her side, Sarah chumo who is the Rachuonyo North sub county police commander made it clear that the suspect was put behind bars at the Kendu Bay police station following the murder incident.
“He will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.” Said Sarah Chumo as she cautioned parents against taking such extreme actions on their children.
In the meantime, the body of the young teenager was transferred to the Kendu Bay Adventist hospital Mortuary in Homabay County awaiting postmortem.
