Hemingways Nairobi has taken Kenya’s hotel industry to another level after earning global recognition as one of the best small luxury hotels.
The local-high-end hotel received Mystery Inspector Award in the Small Luxury Hotels Awards 2020, topping 550 properties globally.
The award is being determined by a team of unknown inspectors who travel in all hotels globally and go through an in-depth check-list and give a report on the quality of each hotel.
“We see the award as an incredible boost for the luxury hospitality sector in Kenya, as it shows that a homegrown luxury Kenyan brand, staffed by dedicated Kenyan hospitality professionals, can compete with the best of the best internationally,” said Ross Evans, Hemingways Collection Group Operations Director.
The global recognition comes at a time when Kenya’s hospitality sector is still in its early stages of recovery after a slump following the international travel ban and local movement that was imposed by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The coronavirus restrictions show the sector lose over Sh80 billion as hotels were compelled to shut down and sent staff home.
