Harambee Stars kept their World Cup qualifying hopes alive after thrashing Seychelles 5 nil.
Captain Michael Olunga opened the scoring in the fourth minutes and added his second of the match few minutes later.
Masud Juma continued with his goal scoring spree by adding the third in the final minutes of the first half. Masud scored the only goal in Harambee Stars last 2-1 defeat to Gabon.Â
Rooney Onyango scored his debut goal for the national team with a wonder strike in the final half of the second half.
Fan favorite Benson Omalla then came off the bench to also score his first international goal in the 74th minute, tapping in Onyango’s assist from close range.
Harambee Stars will play Burundi in their next match in June next year.
Drawn in a challenging group alongside football powerhouses such as Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Burundi, and Seychelles, Kenya kicked off the qualifiers on the back foot after a 2-1 defeat to Gabon at Stade De la Renovation in Franceville.
The defeat left them bottom of Group F without a point and needed to win against Seychelles to revive their World Cup quest once again.
Harambee Stars now stands third with three points. Victory against Burundi next year will help them cement their position.
