Stanbic Bank experienced a system glitch that resulted to money transfers erroneously.
People with accounts at the bank received cash in their mobile money wallets.

A technical error that caused customers of Stanbic Bank Kenya to have their digital wallets credited with various amounts of money has been resolved says a statement that has been circulated.
“We wish to notify the public that earlier today, we experienced system disruptions on our digital customer channels affecting mobile banking app, USSD, Internet Banking and Omni Channel.”
Another customer named @__Mutuku said he received 24,000 Ksh. “So Stanbic Bank Today had a Glitch. Guess who is Rich haha, received 24,000 free of Charge!”
The bank statement further reads.
“We have since restored services on our USSD and Omni Channel and are working with our service partners to resolve the mobile banking app disruption in the shortest time possible.”
The bank has assured their customers that their data is safe.
“We have contacted the affected customers and would like to re-assure our customers and the public that their data is safe, as we bring mobile banking app back online. We will continue to update customers on the progress to restore services. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
