Irene Gakwa met a man on Craiglist, they began dating before moving in together.
Nathan Hightman wanted to marry her soon after moving in together. Irene vanished shortly after that and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
She had relocated from Kenya to the US to be with her two brothers.
Irene Gakwa had America as her dream country.
However, her friends, neighbors, and relatives, who are now unable to find her, have remained bewildered by her mysterious disappearance. And whatever might have gone wrong keeps troubling their minds.
Irene Gakwa, 32, was meant to spend Christmas with her family in Kenya. Francis Kambo, her father, was planning to buy her a plane ticket and was very eager to see his daughter.
Mr. Kambo, hasn’t had any idea of his daughter’s location for the previous 304 days and the wait and search continues.
People with bits of information remain mum. Kambo and family have been watching for any news on her whereabouts. So far, the wait has been agonizing and shrouded in mystery.
“No information is coming,” Mr Kambo recently wrote on a Facebook page created to help trace the whereabouts of the Kenyan healthcare worker.
“Why are they treating Nathan Hightman (Irene’s boyfriend) like there is someone protecting him yet he was the last person to see my daughter?” Mr. Kambo asks.
Many people have been moved by Irene Gakwa’s story.
CNN and other top media outlets have covered it. The family in their attempts to get US organizations like the FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation to help find their daughter or, more simply, solve the mystery have been very slow and emotional.
“Getting GPS of his car’s mobility, cracking his phone has not been done. Again,Nathan’s choice to remain silent to the police and not explain what he was burning in a 55-gallon metal drum,” claims Mr. Kambo.
