“God will defend me” Kawira Mwangaza says as impeachment starts at the Senate

Date:

Kawira Mwangaza, is confident that God will manage her impeachment.

Kawira Mwangaza, the Meru County governor, has posted a biblical message on her Facebook page that purports to talk to her impending Senate trial.

The Governor quoted the book of Luke and seemed to imply that God will defend her.

“Luke 12:11-12[11] “And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say,[12]for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said,” Kawira Mwangaza shared.

Tuesday is the first scheduled meeting of the Senate Committee that will look into the claims used as justification for her expulsion by the Meru County Assembly.

The Meru County Assembly will justify their position as to why it impeached the Governor.

On Wednesday, the governor will give a response.

Starting at 10 am, the Senate committee looking into the basis for Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment will meet.

The committee’s members are waiting to hear Kawira’s accusations in the Senate Chamber.

The 11-member commission will deliberate if the governor should be removed in light of the allegations made against her.

The committee must present its recommendations by December 30.

Barely three months after taking office, Kawira became the first county governor to be removed from power.

During the impeachment session, all 67 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) present chose to remove her due to allegations of abuse of office.
