During the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations, president William Ruto honored various Kenyans with awards.
The list ranges from politicians, both in the government and opposition, Cabinet Secretaries among others.
1500m champion Faith Kipyegon is among those who received the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart award.
“From running barefoot to breaking two world records within a year is the ultimate heroism. Faith’s journey is an inspiration to all our young and aspiring athletes,” president Ruto said as he recognized her.
Also in the list were chief of staff Felix Koskei and Chief of the Kenya Defense General Ogolla Francis Omondi.
Politicians who were feted in the same categories include; Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti, National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Senator Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo together as well as Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who are from the opposition.
Others are Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja, Cecily Mbarire, Kimani Ichungwa’h, Kimani Wamatangi, Aaron Cheruiyot, Susan Kihika, Hassan Abdi Ibrahim (Isiolo), Khalif Mohamed Adan (Mandera), and Ali Mohamud Mohamed (Marsabit).
Those who received the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart award include the Inspector General of police Japhet Koome, Nakuru senator Tabitha Karanja, Mahinder Sing and Arshed Adil.
Others are Joseph Ngaira, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji, Juster Nkirote among others.
