The controversial Suba South member of parliament John Mbadi has been forced to drop out of the hotly contested Homabay gubernatorial race.
John Mbadi has been a strong critic of the Homabay woman rep, accusing her of perpetrating corruption and misusing women’s funds. As a result, the Suba South MP has been at the forefront of inciting residents not to vote for Wanga because of her pathetic records in the county.Â
However, it seems Mbadi’s rants have not bore any fruit and the man has literally bowed out of the race to avoid being humiliated by Gladys Wanga who had gained ground.
While announcing his withdrawal, Mbadi noted that it was time to focus on the national campaigns to sell the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.Â
The legislator also stated that it was one of the most difficult and painful decisions that he had to make in the whole of his political life.
Below was the full statement by John Mbadi regarding his withdrawal from the hot race:
“Greetings to you all the great people of Homabay and Kenya at large. First, let me say over the past 24hours or so there has been much information going round regarding my gubernatorial candidature and many in your thousands have been reaching out to me for clarification.
Well, I must say this has definitely been one of the most difficult decisions that I have had to make in the recent past. What has however made it doable is my unquestioned commitment to the ODM national agenda, quest for the national growth and stability and of course my unwavering support to the RT Hon. Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
In the interest of these, I have today withdrawn my bid from the Homabay County gubernatorial race. I will therefore henceforth place more effort in the Azimio presidential bid and the nationwide bid to have ODM secure as many seats as possible…tasks that I am sure I can positively add value to.
I therefore thank all my supporters and even those who were yet to support my bid for this far we’ve walked. Your relentless and selfless energy towards our #realchange campaign was just incomparable.
Together we remain united and the sky is not even the limit. May God bless all of us, may God bless Homabay as well as our beloved country. Thank you all.” Read the statement by John Mbadi.
