Former President Obama Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel once said “never let a disaster go to waste before milking the maximum benefits out of it. Well, it seems the students from the Gititu mixed secondary school have mastered that saying.
Just a day after their mates were involved in a fatal road accident, 16 students of Gititu mixed secondary school were on Wednesday arrested after they were nabbed engaging in a drug-fueled sex orgy.
The students were reportedly released for the Christmas holiday when they resorted to the act. This came in the wake of the Neo Kenya Mpya bus overturning. As is the norm, anyone would have expected these students to be in a somber mood following the unfortunate incident as opposed to going to enjoy themselves.
A Kenya Mpya bus was on Tuesday morning involved in a fatal road accident leading to the death of the driver with other students getting serious injuries.
According to local reports, the Kenya Mpya bus overturned a few minutes after it left with the students from Gititu mixed secondary school.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by Makuyu police boss Mr. Alexander Shikondi. According to the police boss, the deceased driver lost control of the vehicle at a very sharp corner, causing it to overturn and land inside a ditch.
As usual, many road onlookers stormed the scene to witness the incident and save the students who were trapped inside the damaged Kenya Mpya bus.
The students were pulled from the vehicle one by one with rescue teams rushing them to the nearest health center (Makuyu sub-county hospital) in a bid to get urgent medical attention
According to the police, six students were treated at the Makuyu hospital and discharged, while six others were taken to Kenol Hospital where they were equally treated and discharged. One had a fractured hand and is still at Kenol hospital.
Two more female students had to be referred to the Thika Level 5 hospital for special care given the extent of their injuries.
In the meantime, the Kenya Mpya bus has been towed to the Makuyu police station to be held as an exhibit in the court of law.
