Girl Mike Sonko Sponsored For Medication To India 9 Years Ago Passes KCPE

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has taken to social media to celebrate after a girl he sponsored for treatment performed impressively well in the recently released KCPE results.

9 years ago, Scandy Chelagat was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor of in one of her eyes. With the help of the politician, she was flown to India for treatment.

Doctors however revealed that her chances of survival were very minimal but lucky enough, she was healed and resumed her schooling.

She is among the 1.4 million candidates who sat for KCPE 2023 and she garnered 319 marks out 500.

Mike Sonko has vowed to continue supporting her education until she finally realizes her dreams

“9 years ago, she was diagnosed with an eye cancerous tumor. We flew her to India for treatment after doctors indicated that her chances of survival were very minimal. After she healed, she went back to school, and since then, I have been catering for her school fees over the years.

“Despite being out of school for long, we are celebrating her achievement after scoring 319 marks in KCPE. Congratulations, baby Scandy Chelagat. I’m very proud of you, and I will continue supporting you until you achieve your dreams,” he shared on X,” the former governor shared on social media.

KCPE results were released on Thursday this week and the top student scored 438 marks.
