Ghost Mulee Refutes Claims Of Being Sacked From Harambee Stars

Date:

Immediate former Harambee Stars head coach Jacob Ghost Mulee has denied reports doing rounds in social media that he was sacked.

Ghost said that he has had a good working relationship with the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa and that he was not fired.

According to a statement that was sent to media houses by the on Wednesday Night by FKF, Ghost and his assistant, Twahir Muhiddin together with goalkeeping coach Haggai Azande were relieved off their duties on a mutual consent.

“Football Kenya Federation and Harambee Stars Head coach ‘Ghost’ Mulee have reached a decision to part ways on mutual consent, effective immediately,” read the statement.

Speaking during the Patanisho show at Radio Jambo, Ghost said that he was forced to leave the team due to personal reasons.

“I have been going through a tough time. I was in India for two months with my brother who is ailing. After returning from India, a lot of things changed personally,” he stated.

Mulee went on to say that he is undergoing a difficult time hence making it difficult for him carry out his coaching duties effectively.

“I had plans for the team. I think I would be doing the country injustice if I remained to be the head coach yet I have personal issues affecting me,” he said.

Mulee who has coached Harambee only for 11 months said that he could have resigned earlier but the games that the team had to play prevented him from leaving.

“We were just about to start the World Cup qualifying games and in that situation, it is very difficult for a coach to resign,” Mulee revealed.

He went on to say that he agreed to hand over his responsibilities to someone else after a discussion with FKF.

“After the draw against Rwanda and Uganda, I sat down with the FKF and we all saw it fit that I hand over to someone else,” Mulee said.

Harambee Stars are set to face Mali’s in the World Cup qualifier on 6 and 12 October.
