National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has told off Opposition leader Raila Odinga for claiming that he does not fit to be the speaker of the house.
In a statement on X, Wetang’ula told Raila to get his facts right before making such allegations.
“Get the facts right before such outbursts! Misplaced, misdirected & unhelpful anger Mr Raila Odinga,” Wetang’ula said.
Raila said that Wetang’ula is unfit for speaker’s office on Sunday after he filed an appeal notice on the housing levy ruling.
“Moses Wetang’ula does not deserve to be speaker of the National Assembly,” the ODM leader said, adding that the speaker can only move to court after having consultations with the Members of Parliament
“The law emanated from Parliament and President Ruto signed it into law, now that some people have gone to court, the Speaker, all over the world has no authority to move to court,” Raila further noted.
The appeal notice was filed on Wednesday, expressing dissatisfaction with the court ruling that upheld the housing levy unconstitutional
“The national assembly and the speaker of the national assembly being dissatisfied with the decision of the court of appeal intend to appeal to the Supreme Court against the whole ruling,” read the notice
