Gathoni Wamuchomba, the Kiambu Woman Rep won the hearts of hundreds of Kakamega men who thronged Bukhungu Stadium for a BBI meeting when she vouched for polygamy among Kenyan families.

The woman rep who spoke so eloquently and passionately about the topic argued it was high time women allowed men who have the ability to serve more than one wife to go ahead and marry.

Speaking on Saturday, January 18, at the packed Bukhungu stadium, Wamuchomba said she would vouch for a policy that would not only allow such men to marry as many wives as they would wish but also be exempted from heavy taxation in order to take care of the broad family.

“I had said before that all Kenyan men who have the ability to marry many wives should be allowed to do so without restriction, don’t you want to marry? Don’t you? And as a woman rep I will ensure they are given the chance and exempted from paying tax so as they can take care of the wives and family,” she said amid a cheering crowd.

Her choice of the topic came in handy as it not only broke the boredom of repeated political rants but also related well with his audience who kept on cheering and waving in support of the idea.

Not only were the locals amused with her idea but also her fellow leaders who sat right behind her felt tickled and loosely broke into laughter as they exchanged whispers.

Wamuchomba has been championing for polygamy and in public rallies particularly in her Kiambu county and Mt Kenya region at large.

She made headlines with her popular remarks that insinuated real men must have money, a convincing tongue to win a woman and ability to last long in bed.

“A man faces so many challenges but he should use his voice to defend himself and overcome challenges in front of him. A good voice is a major determinant when it comes to courting a woman. In addition, a man is not only a man because he has genital organs. One who cannot perform well in bed does not qualify to be called a man. Unfortunately, some men do not undertake this role effectively,” she said during the International Youth Day celebrations at Homa Bay High School.
