Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wa Muchomba has narrated near-death encounter with former Embakasi MP David Mwenje who drew a gun and threatened to shoot her.
Wa Muchomba was a vocal radio presenter at Inooro FM before she quit and joined politics in 2017 when she vied for Kiambu Women Rep seat.
As a radio presenter, Wa Muchomba rattled many politicians like late Mwenje and even former president Mwai Kibaki with her blunt criticisms.
Speaking to YouTuber Dan Wainaina, the Kiambu Woman Rep recalled the most terrifying moment of her radio career.
Wa Muchomba recalled how late Embakasi MP David Mwenje pulled a gun on her at Inooro FM studio and threatened to shoot her.
“Those who know me from radio say I was a tough boss and they referred to me as ”aunt’. I fought so many politicians and some of them threatened my life. The late Mwenje was my friend but it got to a point when he pulled a gun on me. He came to the studio carrying a gun. I made a comment on air about him being a Form 4 dropout and that really got to him,” Wa Muchomba narrated.
The Kiambu Women Rep also recalled how she was also summoned by top government officials while working in radio.
“Kibaki summoned and questioned why I was against his government. That was during some clashes between communities in Molo,” said Wa Muchomba.
The 46-years-old politician also said if she will lose her position as Kiambu Woman Rep in 2022, she will still go back to radio and serve people and God.
“My ministry is for the poor people. I have done my best. I don’t need to go back to the radio to earn but to serve people.”
