Kiambu women representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba has criticized Mt. Kenya Tycoons for endorsing ODM leader Raila Odinga for presidency.
The businessmen and politicians from the mountain through the Mt. Kenya Foundation vowed to support Odinga in his bid to become president during a consultative forum at Safari Park Hotel where he was the chief guest on Tuesday.
“We want somebody who will take over and there will be continuity in the kind of development projects that have been started. Secondly, somebody who will not disturb our businesses and thirdly somebody who we can sit with and agree on how to go forward,” said Titus Ibui, Mt. Kenya Foundation Vice Chairman.
Wa Muchomba however termed the foundation apolitical while saying that it does not represent the views of the people of Mt. Kenya region.
“Dear Mt Kenya Foundation. You have finally declared it’s Raila for president. Unfortunately, you are apolitical hence, you do not represent the views of the people from Mt Kenya region. So statements like “our people” are inappropriate in such commitments,” Wa Muchomba said in a Facebook post.
She questioned why the billionaires remained silent on issues affecting the country but only spoke when it came to matters of brokering powers.
“Did you speak for the small traders in Githurai and Kahawa West when they LOST LIVES and properties to demolishers? Did you speak when our people in Laikipia were sleeping in the cold and their animals stolen by rustlers? So you only speak when brokering power?” Wa Muchomba posed.
“You can afford to spend over 2 million shillings to plan a billionares club forum to promise someone “our ” votes yet you could not send a truck of foods and clothes to our Laikipia Kinsmen. Interestingly, someone was on Ziesta all through,” she added.
She further said that she will not be influenced to voting for Raila as the president.
“As for me, a tinga presidency is a force down a throat of an already constipated belly! Am Not boarding!” Wa Muchomba remarked.
