The National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) has released a list of counties that are likely to experience violence during the forthcoming general elections.
During the launch of its inaugural report on Conflict Hotspot Mapping Report that was held at Sankara hotel in Nairobi, NCIC listed six counties that are at high risk of experiencing violence before, during and after the general elections.
Nairobi is leading with a risk of 79.8% followed by Nakuru county -at 75.8%. Kericho comes third with a percentage of 74.8 then Kisumu – 72.5% , Uasin Gishu – 72.3% and finally Mombasa with 71.2%.
“Six counties recorded an inflated vulnerability for electoral violence in the upcoming General Elections. The major impending threat being pre-existing conflicts around issues of inequalities in the distribution of resources, high population density in informal settlements and infiltration of organized criminal gangs and groups,” part of the report revealed.
Counties that are at a medium high risk of witnessing election violence are; Bomet, Samburu, Meru, Nandi Isiolo, Baringo, Lamu, Laikipia, Marsabit and Narok.
23 others depicted a medium low risk of election violence and they include Kisii, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nyeri, Garissa Mandera, West Pokot among others.

8 counties including Kajiado, Kitui, Tharaka Nithi, Taita Taveta, Busia, Makueni, Nyandarua & Embu, depict a low risk vulnerability to electoral violence, with Embu as the lowest vulnerable county
