From Garissa With Love: Camels Given To Raila’s Daughter Trek 742km To Bondo

Raila Odinga tagged along his lastborn daughter Winnie Odinga during his tour of Garissa and the local Somali community gave her camels as gift.

The ODM leader landed in Garissa on Sunday on a mission to popularize his Azimio la Umoja – declaration of unity.

Raila addressed his supporters in Garissa town and also meet with several opinion shapers drawn from the larger North Eastern region.

The former Prime Minister held meeting with delegates from Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Mandela during his two day visit to the region.

Raila made several promises during his visit, including; uplifting of the livestock sector in northeastern, tarmacking of roads and issuance of National Identity Cards to youths.

The ODM leader was accompanied by several politicians among them area governor Ali Korane, his kakamenga counterpart Wycliff Opranya, Siaya senator James Orengo and others.

Raila’s daughter Winnie Odinga also accompanied her father to Garissa and she was given two camels by locals.

Winnie was so grateful for the two camels that she was given, she said that she felt in love with camels while she was in Samburu.

Raila’s lastborn daughter further stated that she had name her two camels Cersei and Garissa and that the two camels were trekking all the way to her rural home in Bondo, Siaya county – a distance of about 742km.

“Garissa was nothing but a good time! I spent my New Years in Samburu, fell in love with camels & I’ve been trying to get some ever since! Meet my new buddies Cersei (sheshe in Luo) & Garissa. Currently trekking to Bondo. Thank you to my friends,” Winnie Odinga tweeted.
