Ida Odinga’s bodyguard Cpl Barrack Onyango was recently killed in cold blood by one Collins Okundi at Riat estate.
Reports revealed that on the night of his death, Cpl Barack Onyango together with a lady who was shot on the leg were busy irrigating their throats not knowing that the manager of the joint (Collins Okundi) was plotting to kill him.
While narrating the incident, this is what the police report disclosed:
“Today the 14th of October 2022 at around 0330 hours, it was reported by Marilyn Marion Ouma a resident of Victoria Gardens Estate House no.55 and of mobile number 07985882×× that she had left Dondez Bar & Restaurant as accompanied by her friend Donar Kajwang and a police officer Cpl Barrack Otieno Oduor(now deceased)(Bodyguard to Dr Ida Odinga).
Upon reaching the Estate, one Collins Okundi, a Manager of Club Signature Kisumu suddenly appeared, and a scuffle ensued between the reportee, Donar Kajwang and Cpl Barrack Otieno Oduor.
In the process, Collins Okundi disarmed the police officer and fatally shot him twice in the head and leg.
Donar Kajwang was shot in the leg where he was rushed to Agakhan Hospital Kisumu in a stable condition.
The suspect Collins Okundi immediately left with the firearm of the officer. The Scene was processed, and the body transferred to Star Hospital Mortuary.” Read the Police report which confirmed earlier reports that the two were fighting over a damsel with each one demanding to have her for the night.
However, fresh twists have emerged on the circumstances surrounding the death of Ida Odinga’s bodyguard.
According to one Lee Makwiny who resides in Kisumu, Ida Odinga’s bodyguard was only contacted to provide security for the lady and that he had no love affair as was thought by Collins Okundi. Below was part of Lee Makwiny’s statement which revealed a complete twist of events:
“The lady is actually married to a musungu who is paying the rent and they have a girl. Another guy, who was shot on the leg is also paying for the rent and stays in the US. He has been around and spends time in that house.
“The killer is the server manager whenever the two gentlemen are away, but he only recognizes the musungu guy. When the other guy came, he became bitter. The deceased had nothing to do with the lady and was only called in by the other guy to escort him from Dondez to his place where he met his death.
The server manager, who had a spare key to the house, got into the house ready for the mission. The maid actually informed the lady of his presence and mood and that is how the deceased was called to offer security to the house. Anyway, neighbors report that was not the first incident of the men fighting there.”
