Fresh Details Emerge Why Police Officer Manning KCSE Exams Collapsed & Died

Date:

A police officer from the Prisons Department collapsed and died at an exam center at Kapchepkoro Secondary School in Sotik on Wednesday, November 8.

According to fresh details, the said prison warder reportedly complained of chest issues before collapsing.

Confirming the incident, Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa stated the officer was rushed to Kaplong Mission Hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

“It is very unfortunate that we lost one of our officers this afternoon who had been deployed to man exam. The officer died while receiving treatment at Kaplong Mission Hospital,” he said.

Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa said the cause of the chest pain is yet to be known but investigations had been launched.

Ndiwa said the officer who was based in Sotik GK prison had been stationed at the secondary School in Chemagel Ward since Monday and had not shown any signs of sickness.

“The officer had not shown any signs of sickness since Monday when the exams kicked off,” he added.

The police commandant said exams continued uninterrupted at the school despite the incident.

“We immediately deployed another officer to take charge of exams at the school and there was no interruption,” Ndiwa said.

He said a post-mortem is being awaited after the family of the officer is notified.

“We would want to know what caused the death of the officer and we expect a post-mortem after the family is notified of the incident,” he added.

The Police Commander also assured the parents that exam materials were delivered on time despite heavy rains.

So far, the KCSE exams have been going on uninterrupted in various parts of the country.

However, in Migori, 14 teachers were apprehended over KCSE exam malpractice. Their phones were confiscated by the officers.

In another incident, the Nyambaria High School Principal was suspended as a supervisor due to exam malpractice.
