There has been pressure on the ministry of Sports as well as the French embassy to make public a list of those who will be accompanying athletes to the Olympics in Paris, France.
Kenyans have been making the demands via social media platforms, in a bid to establish who will be joyriding, and squander taxpayer’s money.
The French embassy has however come out to clarify that its role is limited to granting visas.
The embassy further noted on its obligation on maintaining privacy and data protection.
“It is important to underline that the role of the Embassy of France in Kenya is limited to granting visas to those who submit valid applications.
“Additionally, the Embassy is bound by obligations regarding respect of privacy and personal data protection, and thus cannot communicate or publish the personal information of visa applicants,” the embassy said.
One of the popular personalities who has found herself on the wrong side is TikTok sensation Azziad Nasenya. A section of Kenyans accused her of being one of the joyriders.
She however came out to deny the allegations in statement she shared on Thursday.
“I need to make something clear. First of all, I am not part of the Kenyan delegation to the Paris Olympics 2024,” she said.
Azziad added that, “It is unfortunate that someone will come up with false allegations on such a matter. My involvement with the ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative economy and Sports was centred around the Creatives Technical Committee of the Talanta Hela Council, headed by Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill.”
“I was selected and mandated to represent the younger population in the creatives technical committee. However, the committee was disbanded in June
