Kenyans woke up on Friday to a letter from Nick Mwendwa to the FIFA president Gianni Infantino informing him about his comeback as FKF president.
In the later dated September 8, Mwendwa informed Infantino that he was resuming his roles after the graft charges against him were dropped by the Director of Public Prosecution.
“Reference is made to my letter dated November 29, 2021, with regard to the interim transfer of my powers and responsibilities as FKF President to the FKF Vice President.
“In this regard, following the withdrawal of charges by the Directorate of Public Prosecution on July 8, 2022, I hereby wish to inform your good office that I have resumed my duties as the FKF president, with immediate effect, in accordance with Article 42 of the FKF constitution (2017),” Mwendwa said.
Mwendwa’s move is expected to cause wrangles with the FKF caretaker committee that was appointed by CS Amina Mohamed in November last year after disbanding FKF.
The committee is yet to make a statement on Mwendwa’s latest move but one of the members of its secretariat Linda Oguttu has broken her silence regarding the matter
“I will leave this here…….fellow Kenyans…I am gone,” the former KTN news anchor reacted to Mwendwa’s letter.
“Watu ya football…..good Morning please,” she said in another tweet.
The comment section was however not friendly as many bashed her for ruining Kenya’s football further.
“You were there illegally, you didn’t know anything about sports, just a favor from someone who placed you there, kanyaga kubwa kubwa,” a twitter user told her.
“Yes, the owner of the game you killed is back to claim what is rightfully theirs.. Remember you will account for every single coin,” said another.
“Rudi kwa TV sasa, You’ve played your part in ruining football, i hope you made it worthwhile for yourself, for some of us, it wasn’t,” read another comment.
