Former Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces (Rtd) general Samson Mwathethe has been appointed the new chairman of KenGen.
Mr. Mwathethe was appointed by the board of directors of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) in a meeting held today. He replaces Mr. Joshua Choge who has served in that position for six years. Mr. Choge was appointed to that position on 3rd January 2014.
Mwathethe resigned as the chief of Kenya Defence Force in May 20th 2020 having served for five years. He served that position following an appointment by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
He brings in immense wealth of skills and experience having headed the Oceans and Blue Economy Office. “Under General Mwathethe’s leadership, KenGen is committed to strengthening its stakeholder relations as we continue to build a responsive and dynamic business, This will take into account emerging technological advancements and social trends.” Said the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of KenGen Mrs. Rebecca Miano.
