Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s family has called out the Bungoma County Government over the demolition of their multi-million property
The property was demolished to pave the way for the construction of Masinde Muliro Stadium.
According to the family, the property whose value is close to Ksh500 million was demolished to expedite the process of building Masinde Muliro Stadium to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations
Speaking on Sunday, May 5, Wangamati denied allegations of grabbing the land where the property was located.
“I did not obtain this land illegally. It was advertised. I applied and got it, I was running to a petrol station called Ajip petrol station,” he said.
He accused the Bungoma government of disobeying a court order that was granted to suspend the demolition of the building.
“We have a ruling in six months, why not wait for six months then you can make a decision,” Wangamati stated.
The former governor further blamed the demolition of their family property on a political witch-hunt.
