Education CS George Magoha has said that all the 1.2 million students who sat for the KCPE 2021 exams have been placed in secondary schools.
Magoha who was speaking during the release of form one selection results for the candidates said that the students have been placed in 9,200 public schools.
The best student in the exam, Brian Magata Mackenzie, will be joining Alliance Boys Highschool. He is among the over 30,000 students that will be joining national schools later this month.
“38,7976 KCPE candidates have been placed in national schools, 214,960 in extra county, 258, 456 in county schools, 726,311 in sub-county and 2,045 in special needs school,” Magoha announced
Parents have been advised to check where their children who sat for KCPE 2021 will be joining by sending the candidates’ index numbers to 22263 at a cost of Kshs 25. The SMS platform is available on all networks.
Aside from that, candidates can also know where they have been placed by visiting the Ministry of Education Website.
It however emerged that Nanyuki Boys High School was the most selected school. According to Magoha, 156,003 candidates chose the school yet it has only 484 slots.
Last year, the school attracted a total of 154, 524 candidates and yet it just had 384 form one slots.
Other schools that had the highest number of form one applicants include: Kabianga high school that had 139,000 applications yet it had 528 form one slots.
118,000 girls wanted to join Pangani Girls high school but the school had slots for only 336Â form ones.
Maseno school attracted 110,011 candidates , Nakuru High 107, 000, Alliance girls high school 104,000 Â Kapsabet 99,725, Butere girls High school 97,410, Mang’u boys 93648 and Moi Girls Eldoret 92,666
Magoha said that that shows a number of candidates did not get proper guidance on the selection exercise but he urged guardians and parents to do more in helping students with such exercises.
