Magata Bruce Mackenzie has emerged the best student in the recently concluded 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
Magata Bruce Mackenzie from Gilgil Hills Academy scored a total of 428 marks out of the possible 500 marks.
Magata was closely followed at the second position by a student from Makini School by the name Ashley Kerubo who scored 427 marks.

(3) Kwoma Charity Buyanzi – Holy Family Misikhu Girls Primary School – 426
(4) Mbugua Sharon Wairimu – Emmanuel Springs Academy – 426 marks
5) Muteti Shantel Ndinda – Kitengela International School – 426 marks
(6) Stanley Otieno Omondi – Rofin Field Junior School – 426 marks
(7) Wekesa Naomi – Whitestar Academy – 426 marks
8) Kimani Ethan Karuga – Stepping Stones Preparatory – 426 marks
(9) Njeru Joel Junior – Nyagwa Primary – 425 marks
(10) Muriuki Victor – PCEA Mwimbi Boarding Primary school- 425 marks
However, the top KCPE student last year was Faith Mumo from Kari Mwailu Primary School in Makueni county. She had 433 marks compared to the 428 marks scored by Magata Bruce Mackenzie this year.
Faith Mumo was followed by Nanzala Wesonga from Chogoria Girls Primary School with 432 marks and Angel Murithi who tied with Samuel Wanyonyi at 431 marks.
On his side, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday noted that there was a general improvement this year’s KCPE performance compared to last year.
The education cabinet secretary also made it clear that those people who were involved in exam cheating will face the full force of the law.
“In the next two weeks, you will see what will happen to them. I have talked to our colleagues from the Ministry of Interior to do the necessary,” he stated.
The 2021 KCPE exam started on March 7 and ended on March 9 with a total of 1,225,597 candidates seating for it.
