Exiled lawyer and activist Miguna Miguna is among Kenyans expected to vote in the coming general elections.
This is after Miguna, who is currently in Canada, confirmed that he is on the voters’ register by visiting IEBC’s mobile station in Canada.
“Today, I attended at the @IEBCKenya‘s Mobile Station in Toronto and made sure I am on the Voters’ Register,” Miguna shared on his social media accounts.
The same information was confirmed by the electoral body saying that he was among those who visited Kenya High Commission office and Consulates as the final enhanced voter registration almost comes to an end.
“Miguna Miguna was among the many Kenyans living in Canada, who visited Kenya High Commission office and Consulates to register as a voter, change particulars or transfer their voting station from Kenya to Canada. #ECVR2022 is ongoing in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver for 15 days,” IEBC stated.
It is however not clear why Miguna would register as a voter, yet he can not be allowed back in the country because he was labeled a foreigner. According to reports, Miguna is said to have denounced his Kenya citizenship.
“Shame on them allowing you to register as a voter but not come home. This will come back to bite them soon,” Victor Mwambacha said.
“This is amazing! IEBC recognized you as Kenyan and registered you as voter yet KenyaGovernment does not recognize you as Kenyan citizen. Could this be the first invalid/rejected vote?”Billy posed.
Another section of social media users however wondered who Miguna be voting for because it is very clear that he is not supporting any candidate especially in the presidential slot.
“So you’re going to vote who? since you hate both Raila and Ruto,” Juma Victor asked.
Another follower however wondered if his vote will be brought to Kenya manually as per the bill proposed by the National majority leader Amos Kimunya that seeks to scrap electronic transmission of poll results.
Jeff said that his vote would be counted as a spoilt vote while Pascal Olulo told him, “Careful general, they can deregister you from this end.”
