A 36-year old woman is crying foul after being involved in an affair with a married man several years ago.
Daisy Kavai who now lives in Gilgil engaged in the affair that saw her become a mother of two but the man responsible dumped her and left for US and now her children have to pay for the price of her mistakes.
Life is so tough on her side that she barely meets the basic needs of her two children, yet their father is well of miles away.
“My kids are suffering, they are not supposed to undergo that. They have now closed school, the boy is about to call me. I don’t even have a shilling and he is supposed to come. He can’t stay at our home because there is nobody to look after him, there is only my brother who is a drunkard,” she said.
Speaking to Lyn Ngugi, Daisy reveals that her affair with the man in question began after her high school days.
“After I finished form four in 2005, my dad sent me to study computer at a certain center in our home place. That is where I met this guy. His friend told him to make a move on me because I was beautiful. He asked for my number and I gave him. My father knew I was going for computer studies but instead I went to see the man,” Daisy recounted.
According to her, she fell for the man because of being naive and the troubles that she encountered after the loss of her mother in 2001 and her 5 brothers who were of working class but the man was willing to give her money to sustain herself.
Despite her father being a teacher, Daisy says that he was very irresponsible to a point that they would not afford paraffin. He ended up marrying another woman, and life became too unbearable.
She got her first child in 2007 and the man, identified as David, asked her to terminate the pregnancy when he was three months pregnant.
“I informed him I was pregnant in 2007. He told me ‘I don’t want that I have a wife’. The wife was not staying at home. She was working in Nairobi. I would stay at his place for 2-3 days while knowing he has a wife,” Daisy said.
David gave her Kshs6000 to terminate the pregnancy which she never did. Instead of keeping the money for better use in future, she squandered it. The pregnancy was not visible and the man never knew that she had not executed the plan even though she would spend time with him.
After delivery, David got wind that she had given birth and that shocked him. He however would give her some little cash for the upkeep of the baby. She ended up getting pregnant in 2009 again and days later, David left for the US.
According to Daisy, he denied fathering the two children when the matter was brought to the attention of his family. She now wants David to take a DNA test to prove whether he is the father of her children or not.
She says she regrets wasting her life with a married man. She did not have anybody to advise her on the decisions about life.
