Kenya has had so many musicians who have been in the limelight and not all of them have managed to maintain the status to date.

Others willingly left the industry to pursue other interests, but others whereabouts are not known.

The list of artists who became a sensation in Kenya but disappeared soon after is long but below is a list of just a few of them.

This was a group of 5 artists namely Viq, Thome, Phillo, Erico and Peter. The group hit the Kenyan airwaves with songs like Chonga Viazi, Don’t touch my car, Meet my parents among other hit songs.

The group was formed way back in 2003 when the members were still in High School at Dagoretti Boys.

But since 2009, no single song has been heard but the group decided to invest in studio equipment and production.

Another contributing factor to their quietness in the industry is that some members go too busy with personal matters.

Czars  was also a high school student with a promising career in music but unfortunately that did not live to pass.

The teenage singer disappeared off the scene and nobody has ever heard from him, not even his family. He went missing in October 2006 just when his music career was at the peak.

He was just 17 years old and a form four student at Kilindini  Secondary school in Mombasa but had won awards like Chaguo la Teeniz and Fanta Pure fresh Oxygen search.

Czars is remembered for his Amka ukatike anthem.

The two caused shockwaves in 2009 with their dancehall song Gyal that was received warmly by Kenyans.

However as time went by, their popularity also dwindled and after 2013, the group disappeared completely from the industry.

The group did not manage to secure shows and that is one of the reasons why their music  careers were shelved.

 Shavey is however said to have died in a road accident in 2018.

Chantelle

She is another artist who gave Kenyans a banger and immediately went underground. The singer released Tokelezea featuring Abbas Kubaff in 2018 and never has she been heard again in the music industry.

She was involved in a relationship with J Blessing and even had a son who unfortunately passed on. Their 5-year relationship however did not work and they split in 2017.

She however made a comeback in the entertainment industry through acting.

Circuit and Joel

The two,who are cousins, started their music career in 2004. They came up with a very controversial song known as Manyake or Juala back in the days.

The group however split with reports indicating that there was bad blood between them. Joel however denied the claims and said that they had split to pursue individual talents.

Circuit however got saved  after a long battle with alcoholism

Logombaz

The twin brothers are famous for tracks such as My Queen, Dondosa, shika more and Vuta Pumz.

They began their career back in 2002 but after some years they relocated to the United States.

Lovy Logomba got saved and is now a prophet. On the other hand Christian pursued his private interests until he passed on in March last year after a long battle with brain tumor.

Others musicians who entertained Kenyans and disappeared thereafter include Brenda who sang Why and also featured in E-sir’s song, Mos mos.

Camp Mulla group which split up in 2013 with members opting to pursue individual careers. There is also Gidi Gidi Maji Maji who decided to quit music when their career was at its peak among others.
