Wajir County women Rep Fatuma Gedi caused a stir in parliament during the Tuesday afternoon sitting by accusing DP William Ruto of Land grabbing.
The Woman Rep adamantly insisted that the second in command was the chief land grabber and claimed that he had grabbed lands in various parts of the country including Laikpia, Muteshi, Taita Taveta, Lang’ata and even in Wajir
“Mr. Speaker, the issue of land is a very sensitive thing. It is also very complex, Mr. speaker. As leaders, we need to advise or bring solutions where we can instead of halting abuses, pointing fingers, inciting Kenyans against leaders. I agree with the petition and that’s a problem, it is not only in coasts it is everywhere in this country and everybody has the same problem.
“So when we talk about land grabbing, we know the people who grabbed land including the land that belongs to the students in Lang’ata primary school. We know the person who grabbed that land Mr. Speaker, If it is about grabbing land, we know who owns the land in Taita Taveta, we know who grabbed the land in Laikipia Mr. speaker. The same person, the candidate of Kenya Kwanza we are being told is the person who grabbed land and the father of land grabbers arap mashamba we know the person who has the heart of uniting this nation and one who wants to end land grabbing is none other that Hon Raila Amollo Odinga,” Gedi claimed
Her microphone was switched off as she charged at the speaker reminding him of where he had come from. Earlier, Muturi had attended a Kenya Kwanza function at Ngong Racecourse which saw parties under the alliance sign a deal.
The speaker however told her to take it slow as she had more minutes to address her concerns.
A Member of the house who had raised the concern however sharply disagreed with Gedi’s allegations demanding her to apologize or table the evidence. Endebess MP Robert Pukose also insisted the same.
Gedi however said she would not apologize and said that she can provide the records that detail how the DP grabbed land.
“Mr. Speaker it is in the public domain where one William Samoei Ruto grabbed land including Lang’ata primary school and I have no apology to make about that. I can provide the details…even in Wajir, you have a corrupt presidential candidate to hell” Gedi remarked.
The speaker asked her whether she can provide evidence and she requested two days to do so. Muturi allowed her and ruled that she should table her evidence on Thursday at 2.30pm.
