Nominated senator Millicent Omanga denied claims that she jumped over Kasarani police station fence at night. The woman in the viral photo has finally been unmasked.
Omanga trended on social media on Thursday and Friday after a photo surfaced online showing a fat woman scaling a metal fence.
Rumor had it that the plus size nominated senator jumped over Kasarani police station fence on Wednesday night September 8th.
It was claimed that Omanga jumped over the fence after causing disturbance at the police station forcing officers to unleash dogs.
“Disregard the propaganda about me jumping over Kasarani police station fence. It is an idle rumor worth no one’s attention,” Omanga tweeted.
Omanga went ahead to stated that she is not able to go over such a fence because of her weight.
“Sincerely, how can I jump, over anything, let alone a high fence, without Kenya experiencing earth tremor?” Omanga tweeted.
Kasarani police officers also dismissed claims that the woman in the photo was the plus size nominated senator.
According to Kasarani OCPD Peter Mwanzo, Omanga did not visit the station on the said day the photo was taken.
“I suspect the allegations are founded on a political rivalry that has, of late, gone online. Neither the senator nor her relative was booked as a detainee or visitor at the police station,” said Mwanzo.
Mwanzo further said that the person who started the rumor that the police had unleashed dogs wanted to ruin police reputation.
“The person who started the rumor that we unleashed dogs on the senator is bent on tarnishing police officers’ reputation. We are professionally trained and are skilled at handling all manner of people accused of law infringement,” he said.
The woman in the viral photo has finally been traced. The photo has been traced to South Africa where a media room by the name iMzansi.com revealed the identity of the woman.
