Renown politician and Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been thrown into mourning following the death of his father, Maina Wanjigi.
Maina died at the age of 92, at the Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Wanjigi’s father served as a Cabinet Minister and was also an MP for 25 years.
During Jomo Kenyatta’s era, Maina served as the Director of settlement, where he was involved with settling landless Kenyans.
The deceased has an Elder of the Golden Heart of Kenya award under his name. He was also instrumental in developing Gikomba market.
Following his death, politicians and Kenyans at large have condoled with the family.

“My condolences to the family and friends of the late Maina Wanjigi. He served the country well for 25 years as a minister in the ministries of Agriculture, Tourism and Public Works and Member of Parliament for Kamukunji constituency. We have lost a great icon. Fare thee well,” she said.
