A family in Kisii is regretting their decision to allow their daughter seek employment in Saudi Arabia.
42-year old Felistus Nyambeki left the country in search for greener pastures in the Gulf Country on December 14, 2021.
She left behind her three children as well as her parents, promising that she would give them a better life.
Once in Gulf, she informed her family that she had arrived safely but a week later, she went silent.
Her uncle Fredrick Morema was the first one to notice her silence, as he uses a smartphone, and she wasn’t responding to their messages.
He alerted Nyambeki’s mother after suspected that something was wrong.
The family decided to reach out to the travel agency that facilitated Nyambeki’s travel. The agency, Golden Arena International, has however been playing a game of cat and mouse with them.
Travel documents also indicated that Nyambeki traveled to Saudi on a tourist visa which expired 90 days after her arrival.
“How can my daughter survive in this country with an expired visa and yet the agency that took her there is not willing to cooperate. This is not right, now I am in the dark, not knowing if she is alive or dead,” her distraught mother said.
Caleb Mokaya, who facilitated Nyambeki’s travel, provided a phone number to the family on on November 28, 2022,for them to communicate with their daughter, when they threatened to cause chaos.
“When she heard it was me she started crying and asked us to help her get out of Saudi Arabia because she was being attacked and tortured,” Morema said.
From that moment, they have never heard from her again. The family further says that efforts to bring her back have been futile.
