A family is pleading with members of the public to help them trace two of their members who disappeared without a trace on their way to Iran.
According to the family, the two, a husband and wife, disappeared when they were going to Iran, after being in Kenya shortly.
The couple, Stella Waithera and Ahmed Golabi, arrived in the country on September 19, to visit Waithera’s father who was ailing.
On September 24, they were dropped at JKIA by a friend and Waithera’s sister at 1 am since their flight was to take off at 4 am.
That was the last time they were seen and their phones are unreachable since then.
Authorities confirmed reports of the missing persons and are currently investigating the matter.
The authorities also confirmed that the couple never boarded the plane to Iran.
The disturbed family is now accusing the authorities of keeping them in the dark in a bid to establish the whereabouts of their kin.
“People being held in incommunicado for a long time is so disturbing. My heart is broken,” Stella’s father, Samuel Njunu, said.
The authorities are however reluctant to produce CCTV footage on the day that the couple went missing.
”If there is any crime they might have committed, they have the right to be taken to court and be charged accordingly. But we believe that is not the case,” Njunu added.
The couple met in 2018 at a trade expo and soon after their bond grew stron. They later got engaged and moved to Iran.
Waithera was last seen dressed in blue jeans, white sneakers and a black jacket with a scarf over her head, while Mohamed was dressed in dark blue, khaki pants and a denim jacket.
