Brian Mwendwa, who was recently exposed for practising law without required papers might run for a political seat in 2027.
Mwenda made his intention clear while responding to questions from the media after being released from police custody on a bond of Ksh100,000 on Tuesday night.
He also expressed his gratitude to all those who have shown him support as he battles the whole impersonation matter.
“First thank you to everyone that has been supporting me. I can not give you the context for my case because obviously because investigations have been done and its going to be prejudicial to my case for me to speak to the media however I will create time for you guys and I am going to talk about it.
“Perhaps this was meant for bigger purpose than I am and lets see where this takes us but just keep praying for me and supporting me. I also want to thank the comrades, I am with KUSO leader here..” Mwenda said.
Asked on how he felt for being supported by former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and the whole world, Mwenda said, “it makes me feel privileged, lucky and blessed and perhaps the next Member of Parliament for Mara Constituency.”
Mwenda was arraigned in court on Wednesday after recording a statement with the police and being grilling due to claims of impersonation that have thrown him to the limelight.
His father has since defended him, referring to him as a qualified lawyer after completing his course at the Kenya School of Law.
“He pursued a diploma course in criminology that enabled him to join Strathmore University in 2017. He graduated in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Kenya School of Law (KSL) upon which he finished in December 2022,” he explained.
According to him, Mwenda began representing clients in court in January 2023.
“His first case was representing a family member in court. He made an application for appeal but unfortunately, there was no response to his application. So, he has been working in Nairobi until recently when he told me that some people were claiming that he is not a qualified lawyer,” the father said.
