Excitement As Kenyatta Wins In US Elections

Date:

Kenyans have taken to social media to express mixed reaction after a man with the founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s name won an election in the United States of America.

A politician by the name Malcolm Kenyatta was declared the winner in the just-concluded Pennsylvania State Representative election.

Kenyatta is the grandson of Muhammad Kenyatta,a civil rights leader, minister and politician who ran for mayor of Philadelphia in 1975.

In the early 70s, Muhammad changed his name from Donald Brooks Jacksonin honour of Kenya’s first president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Islam leader Elijah Muhammad.

The young politician rose against all odds to win in the election and he is reportedly the first openly black gay candidate to win in Pennsylvania.

Kenyatta previously served at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards of Equality Pennsylvania, Liberty City LGBT Democratic Club and the Philadelphia branch of the National Organization for Women.

In 2016, former US President Barrack Obama awarded Kenyatta, a Temple University graduate, with the Volunteer Service Award.

Citizen TV’s journalist Linus Kaikai has since plunged Kenyans into social media debates after he shared a photo of Kenyatta on his Twitter handle.

He also linked the politician in the dynasty and hustler comparison that has been going on for a while now.

“MEET US Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta! Some Kenyans would be like “hayiaa DYNASTY YA DIASPORA!” Kaikai captioned the photo.
