Eric Maigo, who was brutally stabbed to death nearly two weeks ago, is at the center of a complex case that has taken an unexpected turn.
The painful and mysterious murder of Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo, is full of twists and turns as new revelations have come to light that may alter the course of the investigation.
Sources with details of the ongoing investigation have allegedly disclosed to Citizen TV that the primary suspect, believed to be a minor, has made a startling claim. The suspect now claims that she stabbed Maigo in self-defense and alleges that she was a victim of r@pe.
According to the suspect’s account given to detectives, Maigo had picked her up by the roadside after she had been forced to flee her home due to a dispute with her guardian.
The minor’s version of events paints a chilling picture of the circumstances leading up to Maigo’s tragic death.
The 16-year-old suspect was presented before Magistrate Zainabu Abdul at the Milimani Law Courts following a miscellaneous application filed by Corporal Patrick Boge.
The application sought permission for the police to carry out mental and age assessments on the suspect, as is required before pressing murder charges.
The court granted the application, allowing investigators to detain the accused for the next 21 days while they conduct thorough examinations.
Over this period, the suspect will undergo both age and mental assessments before the trial proceedings can commence.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is also actively pursuing the question of whether the suspect acted alone or under the influence of others. This angle adds further complexity to the case and raises important questions about the circumstances surrounding Maigo’s murder.
Eric Maigo’s lifeless body was discovered on September 15th, lying in a pool of blood in his own bedroom, bearing a horrifying 25 stab wounds.
Two kitchen knives, preserved as evidence, were recovered from the crime scene.
Police require additional time to compile the case file and submit it to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review and guidance.
The case is set to be mentioned in court on October 18th, and as the investigation unfolds, the shocking and complex nature of Eric Maigo’s murder continues to captivate public attention, leaving many confused.
