Earth Is Hard For Amason Kingi As Ruto Makes A U-Turn On Their Kilifi Deal

Date:

Kilifi governor Amason Kingi must be regretting just a few days after he joined William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Through Malindi member of parliament Aisha Jumwa, William Ruto’s party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has told off governor Amason Kingi to forget about zoning Kilifi county.

Amason Kingi dumped Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and backed William Ruto’s kenya kwanza. While at it, the outgoing governor was reportedly unhappy that ODM rejected his request to be allowed to zone Kilifi with his newly formed PAA party.

However, the earth is even more difficult for the second term Kilifi governor as Ruto’s UDA has made it clear that he should forget about any dreams to zone the area for the benefit of his party.

As a result, the UDA will filed candidates in Kilifi region to face off with those of governor Kingi’s PAA party.

“Kenya Kwanza coalition and the UDA fraternity has decided that it shall continue supporting its candidates in Kilifi. There will be no zoning in Kilifi county.” She said.

Aisha further maintained that she remains the de facto Kenya Kwanza and UDA coordinator in Kilifi county assisted by Owen Baya, and that Amason Kingi should first start with sanitizing himself so that he is acceptable to the people.

From those sentiments, it is clear that Kingi has been shortchanged because he was made to believe that he would be the senior most leader in Kilifi representing William Ruto followed by the likes of Aisha Jumwa.

It seems Ruto has retained Aisha Jumwa to be his main eye in Kilifi because she has been very loyal to the deputy president ever since she defected from Raila Odinga. Whether Kingi will humble himself and work under his political rival Jumwa is a matter of wait and see.
