A fire reportedly broke out at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) headquarters in Nairobi on Monday morning.
Sources reveal that the fire broke out at the national broadcaster’s canteen shortly before 6 am.
None of the staff were injured during the incident as they were all safely evacuated and the fire has since been contained. The fire was contained by police officers with the help of G4S. Nairobi county government allegedly did not have a standby fire engine.
“It started shortly before 6 a.m., G4SÂ and police have contained the fire. Staff on duty evacuated. Everyone is safe,” a source said.
 KBC is yet to issue an official statement detailing the cause of fire and the extent of damages that the broadcaster incurred.

The KBC inferno comes just months after Nation media offices in Kisumu were brought down by strong wind.
Several employees of the media group were left with injuries during the incident that occurred in October last year.
