EACC Goes After Roads Ministry Senior Official Over Fake Degree

Date:

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission has filed a case at Kiambu Law Courts against a senior official at the ministry of Roads and transport.

EACC is targeting the official, whose has been identified as Kenneth Kamumbu Mugo, for securing a job as a government’s roads engineer using a forged Bachelors degree in Civil engineering.

The fake degree is reported to be from University of Nairobi.

The anti-graft commission has now written to the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Roads calling for the suspension of the said official.

The commission has been trailing Mugo since 2018 and he serves as a superintendent at the state department of roads.

“Using the fake Bachelor’s Degree, he enrolled for a Post-Graduate Certificate, master’s Degree and later PhD at JKUAT.

“The commission conducted investigations and established that the officer used forged certificates to obtain employment. The file was forwarded to director of public prosecution who gave consent to charge Mr. Kenneth Mugo. The officer was subsequently arrested and charged before Kiambu anti corruption court,” EACC said.

Mugo will now be receiving half of his pay until his case is heard and determined.

The Commission is seeking to recover salaries and benefits that the civil engineer acquired using the forged academic document.
