The fate of the National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale is as good as done after at least 130 legislatures signed a petition to seek his ouster from the office.
President Uhuru will hold a chair a virtual Parliamentary Group Meeting from State House, a meeting that will seal the fate of Garissa Township Member of Parliament as the Majority Leader.
The Jubilee Party Members of Parliament will meet at the Kenyatta International Conventional Center where the President announces his parliamentary leadership team.
Sources claim Aden Duale is among the leaders whose heads are on the chopping board. This comes after a group of MPs filed a petition to kick out Duale citing they did not have faith in him as a Majority Leader.
A source told a local publication that the Jubilee Party purge was still on. According to the source, the Monday meeting will see President show Duale the door.
“The President received the petition from the MPs expressing their lack of confidence in Duale. He (Uhuru) has gone through the petition and made a decision, which will be communicated during the meeting,” the source told the Standard Newspaper.
Kieni MP Kanini Kega who has been the front-runner to see Duale removed said Jubilee members expect the President to organize a meeting at any given time to fill in the vacant positions and make some changes in Parliament.
“I believe by next week, the Party leader will call a meeting to restructure the party leadership in compliance with the Standing Orders that gives him up to Thursday next week,” Kanini Kega said.

The looming changes come just a few days after the President’s deputy met leaders who were de-whipped from various positions in both Senate and National Assembly.
Those who have voiced their mistrust in Duale’s leadership are the MPs allied to President Kenyatta. And the retention of Duale in the Majority Leadership seat irked the Kieleweke brigade, going by the assertion by Majority Whip Wangwe and his deputy Maoka Maore who okayed the collection of signatures of Duale’s removal.
Despite some leaders from Duale’s backyard holding a meeting to save their man, the president is believed to have made up his mind.
Jubilee Party meeting that was scheduled on June 8 was carried forward at the last minute. At the meeting, the party leadership had planned to discuss the anti-Duale petition
”After consultations, it was agreed that the petition is forwarded to the party leader, therefore the meeting scheduled today at the party headquarters has been postponed until further notice,” the statement from the party read.
