Garissa Township MP Aden Duale pities the next president who will take over after Uhuru Kenyatta retires in 2022, he is adamant that things are not good at all in State House.
Duale says the country’s next president will have a big challenge to overcome because of Kenya’s debt crisis.
The Garissa Township MP insists things are not looking good for Kenya because of Uhuru’s decision to get the country deep into debt.
He cautioned that the effects of overborrowing will be worse felt by the next regime and it’s president be it Raila Odinga or William Ruto.
“He’ll have white hair like former US President Barrack Obama, whether it will be Raila or Ruto. They are going to be in trouble with this debt crisis,” Duale was quoted by the Star.
The former National Assembly Majority Leader further noted that Ruto has always been aware of what is coming next and has been against Uhuru’s huge appetite for borrowing, terming it one of the reasons behind the UhuRuto fallout.
Duale added that the borrowing increased exponentially during Uhuru’s second term, after he succeeded in pushing the opposing Ruto out of the running of government.
“Indeed during the first term there was a lot of borrowing…but in the second term when we advised that we must restructure the debt, we were removed from all our positions in Parliament. When the debt ceiling was being increased, the Deputy President was not in charge. He was not for the idea,” said Duale.
The controversial lawmaker exuded confidence that Uhuru’s successor will have a hard time in office which might be accompanied with stress and he tries to navigate the debt crisis.
