Drama At Kiambu County Assembly As Speaker Scares Off MCAs With Gun

Date:

There were chaos at the Kiambu County Assembly on Thursday after a section of MCAs attempted to lock the speaker out of the building.

According to reports, the members led by majority leader Gideon Gachara stormed the assembly with chains and padlocks to block Speaker Stephen Ndicho.

It is alleged that the speaker drew his gun to threaten the MCAs but he was whisked away by a police officer.

Ndicho returned later after things at the Assembly had cooled down.

The MCAs are accusing the speaker of corruption in the Assembly’s development projects. They further claimed that he kicked out the Assembly clerk and replaced him with his accomplice in the graft deals.

Ndicho has however denied all the allegations leveled  against him saying that governor James Nyoro   is using some members in the County Assembly to intimidate him because he declared his interest in the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in the coming General Elections.

According to him, only 14 members out of 93 are against him.

He also refuted claims of threatening the members with a gun saying that he has a bodyguard who is armed and did not need to use his gun for his own safety.

Governor Nyoro is yet to give his comment on the issue
