There was drama in Kakamega on Tuesday June 14 during Kenya Kwanza campaigns that were led by Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala and former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale.
Trouble began when Khalwale openly supported Malala’s opponent, Fernandes Barasa, in the gubernatorial race while telling locals to vote for the leader of their own choice.
“I want you to know that I am Khalwale, a Luhya from Kakamega, Malala is also from Kakamega, Fernandes also comes from Kakamega, we are all leaders, you should vote for the best person to lead you. I, Khalwale, I am the best performing legislator in the history of Kenya,” he said as he concluded his speech.
Addressing the crowd after him, Malala said that Khalwale was confused and seemed to be eating from both sides, meaning that he was in Kenya Kwanza but supporting Azimio at the same time, since Fernandes is an ODM candidate for the gubernatorial race.
“What is this one saying now, here votes are for Malala, he should stop getting confused, this is my bedroom, he should say if he is eating from both sides,” Malala responded to Khalwale’s remarks.

A separate video showed Khalwale being chased like a stray dog with youths shouting “Khalwale must go!”
His car was pelted with stones as others demanded him to disembark from the vehicle. He however managed to escape the wrath of the agitated youths.
