A service in a church in Kawangware was on Sunday cut short after chaos erupted, with congregants protesting.
The unexpected turn of events took place after the Bishop of the full gospel church asked members to buy him a luxurious car, specifically a Toyota Prado TX. Apparently, he was displeased by the fact that his church members had not raised enough man for him to purchase the vehicle.
According to the man of the cloth, he needed a Prado because he is always embarrassed whenever he meets with fellow pastors because they drive in high end vehicles.
His requests angered congregants and they would hear none of it.
Instead, they began to chant, “Bishop Must Go.” They also carried placards with similar writings, wanting church leaders would intervene and have the bishop transferred.
The faithfuls were agitated by the fact that the bishop was not contented as others faulted him for always attacking church elders in his preaching.
“I was his interpreter for a long time and I have been depressed since some of his preaching is of war, and castigating the members. He does this especially when we have guests,” a church leader who spoke to the media said.
Further accusations that the bishop in question include; sabotaging church projects, attempting to replace bank signatories with his allies, misuse of funds from the school and water vending business.
They have also demanded him to avail financial record on the school and water business, detailing how much has been meant and how its was used.
“There is no way, money cannot be withdrawn from the church’s account without the knowledge of the treasurer,” said another leader.
