NTV News anchor Mark Maasai found himself in a difficult situation while interviewing the Roots party presidential candidate George Wajackoya.
That was during the NTV Breakfast show and all hell broke loose when the anchor asked Wajackoya if he was ‘winging’ in the August 9 general elections.
Wajackoya who mistook the question for ‘winning the election’ angrily questioned Maasai why he was taking his presidential bid as a joke to ask him such a question.
“What are you asking me my friend? Did I join there just to joke? I have been to so many law schools. Did I go there to joke or to graduate? Why do you people, including yourself, doubt me? When you are asking me are you winning it…” Wakackoya remarked.
The anchor however noted that he did not ask about winning but winging.
“Ooh winging. I went to school but I have never heard of that word, what is winging?” Wajackoya posed while still in a high temper.
“Just giving it a try, let’s see how it turns out,” Maasai responded thus making the presidential candidate unleash all that he was carrying on his chest.
“That’s mediocracy, I never try. I have children, when I went with their mother boom a child came, did I go to try for a child to come. I went to school my friend, don’t ask me things you can’t answer yourself. I can not come here and you ask me are you winging it. What is winging to a Kenyan, to my supporters I told you I am here to win the elections,” an angered Wajackoya told Maasai who once again explained to him what he meant by the winging question.
“Not to win, I am not talking about winning, I am saying are you going to see how it works out because you had indicated and promised giving a manifesto on 2nd of July,” Maasai explained.
Wajackoya calmed down after understanding what Maasai wanted and apologized for overreacting.
